The Modak team is thrilled to announce the launch of our platform’s newest feature, Campfire! After weeks of anticipation, our virtual campfire experience is finally here. Keep reading to learn all about this exciting new way to connect with people on Modak. Campfire spaces are designed to recreate the intimate feeling of sitting around a cozy campfire. These are places for people to relax, share stories, and enjoy casual conversations on topics they care about. The goal is to create an ambient environment reflecting an outdoor camping vibe.

We developed Campfire to facilitate more meaningful connections within the Modak community. Real campfires promote bonding between people through cozy, authentic, and real conversations. We want to translate that coming-together spirit into the virtual world.

Key Features of Campfire Spaces

Modak Campfires include several key features to optimize the user experience:
  • Diverse Conversation Topics: A wide variety of dedicated rooms cater to different interests like music, travel, Web3, tech, etc. If you can’t find your passion, you can easily create a new space of your liking. You can talk about your passion there with people who share a similar love for your favorite topic.
  • Language Filters: Before joining any room, you can view the languages being spoken to ensure you can actively participate. This facilitates global connections.
  • Flexible Participation: If you prefer to just listen in, you can turn off your camera and mic. Rooms also persist when empty so you can pick up conversations later.
  • Close Bond: To enable rich dialogue, we capped the initial capacity at 10 people per room. As a small team, this allows us to provide a smooth, quality experience. We may expand this limit later on if the need arises for larger rooms with more people.
Campfire Spaces in Action

Imagine logging into Modak and entering a Campfire room themed around hiking. The ambient soundtrack of crickets chirping makes you feel like you’re in the wilderness. You see a few familiar faces and new people too. Someone shares a funny story about encountering a bear on the Appalachian Trail last summer. Laughter fills the space. This is the type of spontaneous joy and sense of community we want Campfire to create. A place to lean in, listen, and make meaningful connections around your passions.
